15 years ago… probably longer, it irritated me that there was no one source of information for all martial artists! I told this to a lot of people hoping someone would finally do something. Many of my peers seemed to think it was a good idea, but no one did anything about it, including me. Well, having thought it was a good idea herself, in early 2018 my then girlfriend went into partnership with me and together we built WarriorDB.
WarriorDB brings together career martial artists/fighters from all styles of open hand combat for professional or international fights, teaching or coaching, and major on-screen fight performances. It’s a place where we can learn more about a fighter’s or martial artist’s background, and the background of a gym of martial art school. And you can catch up on what fights are happening in the world or look up historical fights. We’re now building the database and I hope that WarriorDB will become a home website for any and all martial artists, fighters, fans, or just a parent wanting to find the right place to send their child to build fitness, coordination, discipline and confidence.

As a child I trained in judo then karate. As an adult I took up taekwondo, later being selected for the Hong Kong ITF Taekwondo Team. I won medals in international fight and pattern competitions before being scouted by a leading Muay Thai club in Hong Kong where I was trained as a pro fighter. But after fighting a couple of competitions, where I won, I retired to pursue my film career. Having worked with people like Scott Adkins, Anderson Silva, Max Zhang and Cung Le, I saw the clear need for a database for martial artists and fighters. I hope that you will join us in building a website for all us career fight and martial art professionals.

From the age of 19 I made my living from the skills I learnt from martial arts. I had learnt judo and karate as a kid, by 19 I was on my second year of taekwondo and had trained enough in Choy Lee Fut kung-fu to teach classes. I was a stuntman and I specialized in on-screen fighting. I later went to China for three years and trained in wushu, a performance based martial art, which led me to become a fight choreographer. I was also selected for the Australian National Wushu Team. Today I direct and produce fight action films. My many injuries from over the years moved me to now train in the more passive martial art of aikido.
